World Day for Safety and Health at Work

World Day for Safety and Health at Work it’s an annual event that takes place on April 28. The day was declared by the International Labor Organization and it’s a fundamental part of the Global Strategy on Occupational Safety and Health.

It’s a campaign that aims to raise awareness and intends to focus the international attention on the magnitude of the problem and how we can establish a safety and health culture.

The theme that was announced first for 2020 was on violence and harassment in the world of work but it has been replaced during the current global crisis that Covid-19 brought.

This year’s theme for Safety and Health at work now is: Stop the pandemic: Safety and health at work can save lives. The concept is directed on addressing the outbreak of infectious diseases at work and focuses on the role of occupational safety and health (OSH) mainly the recovery and future preparedness by consolidating measures into OSH management systems and policies.

In our workplaces we are responsible to reduce the potential exposure, protect ourselves and our colleagues, by:
1)ensuring good hygiene and cleanliness in the workplace
2)maintaining physical distancing, and
3)using personal protective equipment as appropriate.
