The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has initiated the transition from ISO/TS 22003:2013 to ISO 22003-1:2022, effective since June 2022. This new standard introduces significant changes aimed at enhancing the certification process for Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS). Key updates include:
- Revised HACCP Definitions: Incorporating a clearer understanding of hazard analysis and critical control points.
- Scope and Certification Rules: Updated requirements for defining certification scope, particularly for multi-site organizations.
- Audit Duration and Sampling: Adjustments to audit duration calculations and sampling methodology for more consistent and accurate assessments.
Certified organizations must complete their transition by June 30, 2025, ensuring compliance with ISO 22000:2018.
Accreditation Bodies (ABs) and Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) are required to transition their operations by December 31, 2024.
We encourage all certified organizations to begin their preparations early to ensure a smooth transition.
