European Maritime Day will be celebrated on the 20th of May, 2022.
The European Maritime Day (EMD) is being celebrated annually on the 20th of May, was established jointly by the European Council, the European Parliament and European Commission as part of the EU’s maritime policy. EMD is a two-day conference to bring together Europe’s marine community to network, discuss, and plan cooperative action on maritime issues and the blue economy. The aim of this day is to inform European citizens about the vital role of the oceans and seas, and encourage the need for action on their protection & sustainable blue economy.
This year European Maritime Day is going to be hybrid as it will take place in Ravenna, Italy, on 19-20 May for 750 physical participants, livestreaming will also be available.
This year’s main theme is ‘Sustainable blue economy for green recovery’.
