World Food Day 16/10/2020

World Food day takes place every year on the 16th October as an honor on the founding date of the Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. More than 150 countries participate every year in this celebration. Governments, businesses, NGOs, the media, and general public are coming together to take place in events and activities that promote awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and the need to ensure healthy diets for all.

Every year World Food Day is being celebrated with a different theme, the 2020 theme is “Grow, nourish, sustain. Together. Our actions are our future”.

Covid-19 pandemic revived a series of matters that they were taken, before crisis, from a portion of people for granted. The importance of maintaining our health, pointed out the need of consuming nutritious food, thus the crucial matter of food scarcity got the attention it really needed.

Food systems need to be more resilient. This requires more sustainable practices that preserve the Earth’s natural resources, our health, and the climate. Respect food safety regualtions and measures, reinforce good hygienic practices to protect food as well as staff along the food chains, specially in developing countries.
